cutting springs

I was wondering if cutting the front springs on a camaro is just as simple as taking the spring and cutting a coil out of it. I am pretty sure they are stock springs, and I would like to drop it about 1.5" Thanks for the input

i just did the ones in my caprice ,i would go 1/2 a coil till you get the height you want ,i cut one full coil for almost 2 inches of drop ,but i have a little more weight so just do a lille at the time ,it sucks ,but i know mine turned out just right ,i also rebuilt my entire suspention up front so that helped
