so i had originally planned 18x10s and 18x8s for my car.

Now, I'm not so sure. I really like the idea of nt555r's all the way around, and unless i missed a memo, they only come in 17s.

This may be OK, though. I've been thinking a lot, and I'm beginning to think that I like the taller sidewall a 17" wheel would allow for.

so, i need both information and opinions. are there any advantages to an 18 inch wheel? how does ride quality compare between the two? could I squeeze an 11 inch wheel in the back of my second gen with 17s? could i go 9 inches wide on the front? does anyone have any pictures of second gens with 17s on them? seems like all I can find is 18s...

thanks a lot in advance, guys!

actaully a 17 inch wheel, since it's offered in R compound tires have proven itselves to be superior in every way to 18s except in the looks department.

The softer compound is better for traction, softer ride, and better overall handling. If you're willing to sacrafice the treadwear.

The NT 555R's come in 18" but limited sizes. I believe only 4 or 5 sizes??

I run the 305/45 x 18 on my Lightning.

Happy hunting.

Well my current tires are apparently made of steel (bfgoodrich radial t/a) because they show virtually the same tread after nearly 3 years of daily driving, so I figure I owe myself a couple new sets of tires once wheel time comes around. So nt555r's are pretty high on my priority list. From what I've read, they make a phenomenal difference in performance...and I like the word phenomenal a lot.

as a side note, i hear that once you start to get into pretty wide wheels and tires (10.5"+,305+) ride quality starts to suffer severely. How much truth is there to this?

check out the hothckis camaro, they stuffed 17x11's and 17x9.5's. I would personall do a 9,10 combo, or a 9.5/10 or along those lines.
