View Full Version : Spare tire for 13" brakes

Having recently added Baer 13" front brakes to my Tempest, I have made my 16" mini spare unusable. Anybody have a recomendation for a good cheap alternative spare to fit my ABody and clear the Baers.

Maybe going to the local parts yard and getting a spare out of a later model Corvette (that still carries a spare) ??

I would think either that, or run a pizza cutter up front with the correct offset. At least it will be speed rated....

I think the baer/C4 could use the 17 inch corvette spare. I have one I need to get rid of (going with C5 conversion and am going to use a new GTO spare). PM me if interested.

Newer GTO spare works great.I thought I just read they have funky bolt pattern.

GTO's have a different bolt pattern. I'm not sure what it is but when I was looking for wheels for my 04 I found that out.

runflat tires.....are probably limited in size, heavy & pricey.

An 89-96 C4 spacesaver would do the trick,Mike.

Do they make run flat tires in all shaps and sizes?

If ordering a C4 spare, you need the one for the 13" option. There are two different spares for C4, and the 12" rotor version does not fit.

Do they make aftermarket/retrofit performace run flat tires in all shapes and sizes?That question is more specific.

Good point. I would then find a spare out of a 94-96 C4. In 94,they all got the 13" front brakes as standard equipment.
