Smoothing Firewall, Can I Still Have heat?

Hey Guys, This might be a dumb question but her it goes. I want to smooth the firewall on the chevelle, The car originally had A/C, My dad doesn't want it, but he does want heat and defrost capabilities. I was looking at the MWPE Firewall Smooth kit to do the job. But am I going to need the big blower box with the a/c crap in it. I don't know alot about that heat /AC stuff so help me out. I've seen that some guys just have the clean looking 4 lines on the passenger side going through the firewall. Excuse the stupidity but I need some help. Thanks again Chris

Vintage air sells a defrost/heat only set up.

You can also go to a stock heat/defrost unit instead of the stock a/c-heat. You will still have the outer heater shroud, but if you want it totally smooth I guess the V/A unit will work as well. I have 2 stock heater/defroster units if your interested 68-72 A body...Mike

yeah, you can get a vintage air unit, and it hangs on the inside of the firewall, the interior side, and replaces the factory heater core. Then you can use a bulkhead fitting ont the firewall so you can route your hoses.

They make a universal heater/defrost kit that has a number of 50616-VUZ and there is a compact series that has a number of 50615-VUH.

I would think that it would. You would probably have to make some mounts for it, but I don't know why it wouldn't work. On mine, I have the Sure Fit unit. I guess it would be more money, but you could always buy it and not hook up the A/C portion. Plus it would be there down the road if you decide that A/C would be nice to have.

Thats what i am doing for now, I have a GEN II supercooler, and only am hooking up the heater part, then down the road, I'm going to put in the AC.
