Removed my first panel today. Took out the seat brace (I guess that's what you can call it??) today. First time removing a panel. It came out kinda crappy and a little tweeked. I think it'll go back in ok on a new pan though. Here's a couple pics.... be straight forward and honest with me, did I 'F' it up pretty bad or is this what to expect from a non professional? I'll clean up the edges with a sanding disc on both parts. I just have 2 more spot welds to cut on the inner brace for it to come out. To make this clear, I am removing in order to cut out and replace the floor pan. Any tips greatly appreciated.

Shouldn't be too bad just hammer and dolly the edges straight before reinstalling. Get out as much of the tweak as possible before clamping back in place.

Amature wanna-be body man here too. Mine came out looking about the same as yours. I cleaned it up and straightened it out, but still haven't put in over the new floor pan yet. I'm interested in what the "pros" say too.

I hate removing those things so much, we replace them when we do floors, that way we can run the plasma right around that sombitch. You did fine, there is no real good way to remove a seat pan without mangling it. Lucky for all of us that tear them up, when reinstalled, they can get heavy seam sealer and covered with carpet! But if the sight of it bothers you, just order up some new ones, they will look purdy installed!

The fact that the carpet covers it up eases my mind a lot LOL! Actually that's the main reason I started with the floor area. Figured if I screwed it up that bad I could at least cover it up.
Just ordered a air nibbler and a air offset punch for when I get the floor pan. Looks like I'm going to try replacing the whole drivers side pan, which I can only get that pan from Classic industries it looks like. My next move after that will be a full trunk floor pan/rear valance. Then both rear quaters.

Hell, it looks to me like you have done it before. Like others said, do a little hammer/ dolly work and some corrosion protection and you will be fine.
Great Job. :twothumbs

I scrapped mine with the old floor. I ordered a new pair for $100. Money well spent if you ask me.

Scott, feel free to join in any time! I have a complete RH floor pan and trunk pan to rip out. I don't think I'll run out of things to do anytime soon haha!
