I am running long lug studs on the back of my car and right now I have a set of Weld Drag lites with open ended lug nuts. If I were to go with a set of 17 or 18 inch wheels would I need to cut the studs down or would it look ok just with a set of open ended lug nuts

Thanks
Brent

I cut mine down about 2 years ago when I got my 18's. No problems. Just thread an open lug nut onto the stud. Then cut the part of the stud off with a cutting wheel. Chamfer the end of the stud with a grinder or file. Then back the nut off and you should be set. I have 1/2" studs.
Most 17 or 18 wheels have center caps that cover the studs but if they are too long you will have to cut them like I did.

Thanks I just was wanting to keep my Welds for the track and get me a nice set of 17's or 18's for driving. Anyone have a pic of a set of 18's with long lug studs (A wheel that doesn't have a center cap)

Thanks everyone for the info greatly appreciated

Yeah you might want to cut them down but its not required. The problem i've run into is that there is so much thread to pass a nut by and they get rusty (problem in my area) thus have an increased likelyhood of galling a nut.

And we all know that "galling a nut" is no fun.:injured:

I have long studs on the rear. They use open lugs on steel or thin flange wheels, but I can use long closed nuts with my 17 wheels. FRANK
