      Feedback/reviews on Arizenracingsport seats?

I have seen these seats linked to and mentioned a few times:

      www.arizenracingsports.com

But I have yet to hear anything about their quality, comfort, etc. At this point, due to price and looks I'm leaning towards either 4th gen seats or maybe a set from Arizen so any actual first hand experience would be great.

      Thanks!

They are nice looking and well made. However they are a steel perimiter frame seat. There is no rigid one piece pan/back as you'd find on a true racing seat.

If you plan on serious track use there are better options. However if all you are looking for is a nice, good looking, comfortable and supportive seat for recreational driving and/or auto-x they would do that job rather well.

This is going into a 68 Camaro that will see some hard driving but not regular track use. In fact I'd place normal driving comfort over a higher priority than superior racing support.

It's not really a matter of percentage of time spent. More, what is the level of risk in one vs. the other. You are far more likely to have a bad wreck in that one trip to the track than in a year of putting around town. Better to be prepared for the worst.

How often do you get into a head on collision in your normal street car? It's still got airbags though right?

I'm waiting on a set of these for my '01 SS. I'll be sure to write a full review when I receive them, but it's going to be another month or so. (The seats were recently re-designed, and the new designs should arrive in a month or so). Arizen will also be joining as a sponsor on pt.com, once the new seats arrive.

I've got a pair sitting in my shop, waiting for me to install them in my 69. Keith Anderson aka KAA has a pair of them in his killer 70 SS El Camino so maybe he will post a few photos. I've sat in his car and they are really nice. Just need some motivation to get mine installed.

I have them in my 68 camaro. You can't beat the way they look in the car for the price. I get a ton of compliments. However, I'm a size 33 waist, and they fit like a glove. My father is a 38 and he says that they are not that comfertable. I don't know if they make a wide version. Looks, and quality wise....top notch. I also made my own frame out of some steel, and had someone weld them together.

I have a size 36 waist and my seats fit me fine. The side bolsters can be "adjusted" for a wider butt.

I'm finally getting around to putting some seats in the car and im really interested in the arizens, however have yet to hear a review aside from them fitting guys with smaller waists.

Also is there anyone around the bay area with theese preferably in a first gen that i can sit in to try out.

Also they dont list first gens on their sliders so how are guys getting them to fit?

I've got them in my 68 Camaro. They supplied two steel plates that are pre-drilled for the seats. I fabricated a template for the mounting locations in the floor and drilled the plates using those templates. It took a few tries before I got it right so measure a bunch of times before you start drilling your holes. As far as comfort and fitment, I'm 6 feet 220 lbs and they are a bit snug and firm, but its nice not to sliding around when you are going around corners. Here is a pic before they went in.

I haven't been able to get a hold of a set of door panels for my car, and since I want to be able to take some nice before and after interior shots, I've been holding off the past month on installing the seats. I'm hoping to have them installed within the next week or two, though. Arizen is an informal sponsor on pt.com, Mark (the owner) frequents the board and posts from time to time. I believe the seats are currently undergoing another wave of minor modifications in an effort to bring an even better product to market. Once these alterations are complete, their banners will be officially posted.

That's still not a bad price for decent leather seats like those.

$300+ seems like A LOT for a tube frame seat that carries no FIA certification.

Better than stock to be sure, but IMO I dont think they should not be considered a track-ready seat.

Maybe for cloth, but not for leather? Post some examples of aftermarket leather seats that retail for under $300 each.

Also, I do not believe that Arizen's target market is the racing demograhic (though they do sell some to racers, I'm sure). The seat is not a fixed back seat, which is what most track cars, or really serious street cars run. Not many run leather (for weight) nor seats that recline.

The seats have undergone some alterations. Your entitled to your opinion, but these seats aren't quite recaro knock-offs. They're an extremely well put together seat, not just junk.

Not disputing that at all. I think they are great looking and would be fine for a street car or one that might see the occasional auto-x.

But if one plans on HPDE's at all there are "better (read safer) tools for the job".

Just want people to realize that there is a difference between a seat with holes to allow a harness and a racing seat.
