My friend crashed his '88GT hatch and I'm trying to get him to do it right from the start insted of being halfassed like he usually is. "IT" being swaping all his parts into a LX notchback. How much would a notchback LX weigh with corba IRS and aluminum headed 5.0L be you think?

The GT hatch is alright--throw all the Maximum Motorsports parts on it. As far late model Mustang tech goes, Corner-Carvers > over all else. The search function is your friend over there:ssst:

There is not a huge weight advantage to the notch. It is also easier to make a cage and get a good weight distribution on the hatch.

If my car had the motor in it I'd let you know! My car is pretty much exactly what you describe. The IRS is about 80 lbs heavier that a stick axle, which is about the difference in weight between the notch and GT. That 80 lbs gets put in the prefect spot with the addition of the IRS, helping weight distribution quite a bit.

Yeah, Fox bodies need a ton more weight over the rear. They can get way too squirrely way too fast.

Read everything on this site before posting http://corner-carvers.com/wiki/index.php uhhhh, why? Been there. Owned one. Had friends w/ them.
Fox 5.0 notches weigh about 3075 stock. The IRS will gain what, like 50lbs? The heads will take off about 20 I'd guess. That teamed with a battery relocation (move 60 over the rear wheels) and you'll be well balanced.
I hope that answered your question. I have a 5.0 notch that my friends are trying to convince me to turbo... but I wanna get the camaro done first.. sigh.

That’s great but apparently THX 138’s friend has not, sorry about the miscommunication but my response was aimed at THX 138. As to your question why? Because that board is dominated by Fox and SN95 owners who know a lot and have a lot to share, but are not really open to the idea of reread post that have already been beat to death. That website goes over most after market suspension part that is applicable to a Fox. Is it RCVD, not in the least but it will bring him up to speed and hopefully stop him from asking “How can I make my 86 hatch turn like a z06” which will get him banned. I’m not trying to be a CC.com fan boy but, if you play the game you can get a lot of useful information out of people with a relatively short temper.
