Does anyone know if a double hump head can be drilled and tapped to accept an alternator bracket that mounts to the head and water pump? I currently have one of those nasty long skinny brackets that is impossible to line up correctly. I've been told that you can't drill and tap them because of the water jackets. Does anyone know?

You run the risk of going into the water jacket if you tap them.
Are you running a long or short waterpump?

Thanks for all the info. This is just a temporary fix until I get the 489 BBC built! I'm definitely going with the March serpentine system on the next motor...no matter what the cost.
