Stitchcraft Center Console for '67-'69 Camaros

What do you guys think about this? It's a picture of the console Stitchcraft made for Ian Zering's Camaro on Super Chevy's web site. Does anyone know of another place I can order something like this? I think I would have it covered in leather. I'm not crazy about the look of the exact one below but maybe there is something else out there.

Larry, I have been lokoing around for the same thing for about 2 years now and there is pretty much NOTHING off the shelf, it is all custom made. I have a 67 Camaro and will probably end up building my own. If you do come across anything I wouldn't mind hearing about it also.

While on the subject, does anyone have any links to information on building a custom center console? Or good books, etc. on the subject? I definitely want to build my own, but have never done any carpentry work or fiberglassing, and I want to start planning it out.

      just built one for 67

here are a couple pics of the one that I made for my 67 it will be painted the same color as the interior. I also moded my dash to house the ac vent and din radio and then flow into the console.
I need to take mor pics as it looks much better now that it has been installed and all the prep work is finished and primed.

HzEmall, what kind of filler do you normally use? And how do you get the textured/grain OEM look on the pieces that were sanded smooth? Great work!

Hey, ls67, I really like the console you made. I was looking through your photo album on your homepage, and couldn't tell what material you made the console from. It looked kinda like that lightweight board material they use on the back of bookshelves, but I couldn't tell. What did you use? Did you fiberglass over it, or just do all the prep work straight over the material? Thanks

I use a product that I designed called "Liquid Plastic" and sell on my website in the Online Store. I also sell the texture spray and plastic dye there as well.

The texture takes some playing and practise with different spraying techniques to get the desired results.

      Hey deep blue.

yes it is the masonite that you find on the back of book shelves it is 1/8'' thick we first installed mounting studs on the tranny tunnel and then we made mouting brackets and mounted them on the studs and then made the skeleton and skinned it in the masonite then we fiberglassed then sanded filled snaded primed blocked and so forth until we got it like we wanted it we made modifications to the dash so that it would sweep right down into it. in the top hole there will be a billet a/c vent then stereo in the next hole just before it meets up with the with the console where the top hole will be for vintage air controls then the gauges then shifter then we molded in a change trey just before the glove box. then on the front of the glove box will be the window controls.

Fred - thanks for the response. I've never quite made it out that way...taken TX-82 over to Wichita Falls a couple times though.

I actually got my first fiberglassing experience today. Me and a couple guys in my senior design elective with me had to fiberglass the intake restrictor for our Formula SAE car. Fun stuff...it's not as easy as I thought it'd be as far as getting it to go on evenly without lumps and air bubbles. I guess that's what sandpaper and bondo are for

That second picture is funny. There are LCDs in the headrests and about 2" of leg room in the back seat.
