i was gonna buy one, figureing i could rent it to friends and make back the money but I kinda ran outta money, so a little cash for renting one would be smarter than buying one.

The way ive seen it done on other boards was you charge them full price of what it would cost to replace the tool..or what you consider the tools value at...then you when you receive the tool back you refund all but the rental fee. generally 40-50 bucks from what ive seen.

So you initially charge the folks $250 (or whatever the tool is going for now); ship the tool out, when you recieve the tool back you send them $200 dollars back.

Id be interested in renting the tool as long as the price was resonable.

i can deal with that. if any one is interested i will rent it for $50 plus the shipping price with a $250 deposit. now what is a reasonable time for the item to be returned?

Say the $50 covers the 1st 5 days after it has been dropped and then $15 a day after that unti it is shipped?

I'm with you. Someone that rents it could possibly misuse and damage it, or at very least you have wear and tear on it. I bought one and would consider renting it out to interested parties, but not before I use it first! If I were looking at renting vs buying, I think $50 would be fair.

I have that exact roller. I bought it about 3 months ago to roll the rear fenders of my 68. I'd be ok with doing the $250 up front and then sending you $200 after I get it back. Each of us paying for shipping. PM me if you are interested and we can exchange info.

I have the same tool as above and also the wheel back spacing tool (ouch was this thing epensive). I rent both at the same costs. You can send me two payments (rental fee $40.00 and deposit $225.00). If it's not returned in 10 day (via tracking number) then i keep the deposit. I also try to cut down on shipping for everyone as you would ship it to the next guy in need.

PS if your in the chicago land area then you can come over and use it for free. (both tools)

As far as the back spacing tool - if i receive the fender tool back in good shape then i send you the back spacing tool with a deposit and only a $25.00 rental.

Has anyone tried the fender lip tool on a car that is already painted? Or is this something that needs to be done before paint?

I used a mallet and sandbag on my car, I used an adjustable wrench to get it started and then beat it senseless. My car was painted but it would be better to do it before paint. I was a little lucky, it came out mint.

I don't think that one supported the tire. I called the company and they said they did not have any made and they would "sometime in April".

Correct, it did not support an actual tire. I'm pretty sure it simulated the tires position within the wheelwell and allowed adjustment for tire diameter and width and rim dia, width and offset
