Hello all, i've been lurking a little.

I am active duty air force, and on my way to england. I own two cars, one a 1984 Grand Marquis coupe, andd an 87 crown vic coupe.

I have been in the expirimental stages of the Crown Vic/Grand Marquis chassis (the "panther" chassis) since 2001. When I graduated high school, I did a year of automotive school, but my real expirience comes from doing what i fell I do best, hot rodding.

My Mercury coupe, which I have owned for two years, I am constantly wondering what I am going to do with it. So far, since I am leaving the country for a couple years, I plan on dropping a worked 1970 351C-4V into it, with a Tremec TKO.

I already have 3.73 gears. Suspension mods include a rebuild with 98-02 Crown Vic parts.

My big concerns are how to lower this tank, and what wheel/tire combo to run. I want a black/gunmetal wheel, at least 17"...

Thanx for a cool forum about the g-machine, which is one of my favorite looks of all time!!!

Police car springs cut down ... the fronts are ~ 700 lbs./inch to start with, IIRC. We used a pair of those, with a coil cut, and the bottom coil wound in to fit the control arm spring pockets, on my 87 Mustang track car.

Get some Bilsteins to go with them, and the police car or aftermarket stabilizer bars, and you'll be on your way.

cheers

Thanks Ed!

I already run box panther police bars all the way around, i'm actually thinking about aftermarket coils from Speedway Motors, and of course the bilstein, or QA-1 shocks...

Handling is also a concern, but as much research as I have doing, that shouldnt be a problem. With the things ive done so far (I run KYB GR-2s right now) it doesnt handle bad, but I know it can be improved...

Check out Coil spring specialties (www.coilsprings.com) They will custom build coils in any hight and spring rate. I am thinking of getting a set made for my town car. Any they are not expensive either.
