How necassary are the fresh air ducts in my 69' Camaro kick panels? I have installed a Gen II compact vintage air system and wondering if I need the fresh air vents. I am looking in from a custom stadpoint and i want to put speakers in these holes and smooth my kickpanels. Will this effect anything functionally? Is this a good or bad idea?

They are awful nice to have on those "tweener" days like we have been having lately.
Cool and sunny when there is too much warmth from the sun on your chest and shoulders. But too chilly to roll the windows down or kick on the AC. Know what I mean?

If it's something you might be interested in, there are some companies that reproduce the kickpanel to accomodate both speakers and the fresh air vents. Just a thought.
I'm running the vintage air set in my car (65 Chevelle) as well, however I built a plate to cover up my vents. Mine was leaking air, which made it harder to cool the car in the summer.
Either way you go, I do not think it will hurt anything to cover them up.

I cover mine up as well. To much heat from the engine compartment. I went ahead and purchased after market kick panels with built in speakers in them. You can go wrong.

Close them up. You don't need them. On a/c cars, the driver side is sealed up, and the passenger side is used to put air through the evaporator.
