Does anyone know what size hole needs to be cut for 5" and 2 5/8" Autometer gauges? I need to know the whole size to be cut and the O.D. of the outside ring on the gauge. Autometer's website doesn't list these specs!

Some of the 5" tachs need a 4 5/8" hole. You better just buy the ones you want, because Autometer's website and catolog aren't very clear on this.

I know from personal experience that you need a 4.63" hole for the 5" gauges to fit nice.

Sounds familiar. I repeat, all Autometer 5" gauges are not identical.

Well I kinda answered my own question once I got to searching Autometer's website further. If you go to there "Tech" section then then to the "Download" section they have all of the downloads (instructions that come with the gauges) for whatever model gauge you have. From what I gathered the 5" gauge is indeed a 4 5/8" hole with 4 15/16" OD on the trim ring. and the 2 5/8" gauge is a 2 5/8" hole and I used the digital micrometer on my own 2 5/8" gauges and the OD came out to be 2.85". So thanks guys! Oh by the way, the reason I needed to know was cause I bought the Covans Dash for my Nova (blank) and was determining what I could fit in it. Just for future reference the Nova dash panel will not accept the (2) 5" , (4) 2 5/8" gauges. But I did manage to squeak (2) 5", (4) 2 1/16" gauges in! I don't know why Covans doesn't offer these with 5" tach and seedo, they would have quite a few offers. But for all Nova owners, you can fit it! You just have to run the smaller vital gauges and cut out for the radio, heater controls, vent, headlight siwtch, and wipers. Also have to address the turn signal lights, high beam indicator and any factory warning lights. I have mine all cut out just waiting to order the new gauges! I can't wait to get that new 160MPH elec programmable speedo!!!!

Congrats on stuffing the (2) 5" gauges and the (4) 2 1/16" gauges into your dash. You will love the look of your new gauges!!! The electric speedo is soo easy to set. Which style gauges are you going with? Ultraites, Phantoms?

Actually gonna go with the Sport Comps. I previosuly had 2 5/8" Sport Comp in the car under the dash, but the ligths were sorta dim for my likeings. But I figure once they are right up in front of me they will be great! I am actually installing LED lights in the gauges before I ever install em so that way I have super bright lights. I am using LEDs for my high beam, turn signal, and NOS activation also! Should turn out alright, now just need to get those gauges coming. I also just ordered the Flaming River tilt column. So I think the car will be alot more fun to drive once the interior gets revamped!
