      78 Trans Am - I want to run 335/30/18 - Questions

I have a '78 Trans Am with a ridetech 4-link and a Quick Performance standard-length 9" rear end. I want to run an 18x12 wheel with a 335/30 rear tire and a 18x10 wheel with a 275/35/18 front tire. I know I will need to install minitubs, DSE, but will I need to shorten my new rearend?

I have seen this setup everywhere. It looks like every Restor a Muscle car
pro-touring build has this wheel and tire setup. Do they all have narrowed rearends? Can someone show me their car with 335/30's with a standard length rearend? What are your wheel specs?

The DSE car below is the look I would like to achieve.

Just depends on how much dish you want. I run that size tire on two cars. My 70 Formula (Quadralink) has a narrowed 9" rear end (56.25", 18X12 5.5" BS) and our 79 Y84 (ridetech 4-link) has a stock width 9" rear end (61.25", 18X12 8" BS). We wanted less dish on the 79 to make it look more factory. Name: IMG_3628.jpeg

Thanks for the info. Can you share a couple more pictures of the 79? Also, how did you have any issues with the parking brake cable with the 8" BS?

What tire size are you running in the front?

From your two experiences, does the DSE picture above look like the narrowed rearend?

Here are a couple more photos...we haven't taken many since we finished the car. We're running a Wildwood epb on the 79. 275 35 18 in the front of both cars. The dish looks pretty deep on the rears of the DSE car...I suspect it's narrowed. Just call them, they should be able to tell you.
