68 camaro,502(truck),full march performance revolver set up with air.
Problems with the power steering pump,it uses the gen 2 (89 sunbird) power steering pump.
Using a quick ratio gear box,not rack set up.
The first pump bled fine, then after several times starting engine (over days) noticed the remote res extremely hot, then when rapping motor high pitch sound( not like belt slipping)....found pump to be damn near siezed.
Replaced pump, changed the banjo fitting it came with to oe style o ring end going into the power unit.
Bled and bled and bled...all seamed well, had power steering,no over heating, quick trip down the road then parked, started several times nonisdues.
Car sat about 3 days, started car gave it a quick blip, noticed that pitch again, shut off.
Res getting hot again,so bled again, tires up engine off, then running.
Noticed no air, vacuum tested but it won't hold 20 psi it keeps dropping...no leaks anywhere!!!
Pump and line getting super hot again and looks like another pump going/went out..used pre stone fluid first pump, flushed system and now running synthetic.
Am I missing something with this combo,I don't think its a heating problem until that pump starts siezing???A cooler is not going to solve this...belt tension too tight?
Any help appreciated.
