Custom Braided Brake Lines - HEL Performance

Other than cost, is there any downside to using high-quality braided brake lines vs. hard lines?

I am cleaning up the engine bay and would like to run new lines from the MC to the line lock and proportioning valve, and across the engine cross member to the pass side.

Any experience with HEL Performance? They have a line building tool that seems great, and the prices are actually not bad.

Pedal can get spongy with that much soft line. (assuming you are talking about doing the whole front of the car, if not disregard) Braided lines from the master down are fine. Not my preferred method and can look a little messy sometimes but it sure does make swapping master cylinders in the paddock easier.

I have a Brake Quip dealer across the street. It's nice because I can take the parts and clock them if needed and then have them crimped. Might be worth checking to see if you have one local. I didn't see anything on your link about DOT approval.

I replied back asking if there is a point where too much braided line can cause a soft/spongy pedal, I'll post again with their answer.

I also filled out a dealer location request with BrakeQuip, thanks for the tip there. Local would be nice.

Their reply when I inquired about too much braided line causing a spongy pedal:

      Hey Nick,

We make full soft line kits all of the time for custom applications (drift cars, road race cars, off road, etc). We also manufacture full soft line kits for a C10 and a Classic Mini company. There is no pedal difference with our full soft lines and oem hard lines. The biggest hose expansion will be with OEM soft lines as they rarely have steel braiding. Our hoses have a PTFE internal hose, then stainless steel braiding, and a protective PVC coating on the exterior. You're in good hands.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
