Line-X??

Im currentlly re-doing my 1988 monte carlo and trying to make it into a pretty nice street car. I am having the floor patched and I was thinking about having the floor and the trunk sprayed with line-x...to seal it from moisture and to have a sound barrier. What do you all think about this idea?

A buddy of mine did that to his pro-street Bug and loves how it looks and the reduction of sound. He also color sprayed over it and it looks great

Just keep in mind that it adds alot of weight. A short bed truck box adds 60-70 lbs at 1/4". Don't know your surface area, but you can use that as a reference.

I don't know why you would spray 1/4" thick in the floor of a car ,the beds aren't that thick.I have sprayed a lot of odd stuff,grills,rocker panels,floor pans,etc.If you are looking to seal and soundproof your car Line-X would add very little weight.Compare the weight of Dynomat versus Line-X and there won't be alot of difference.If it was a race car I would try to cut every pound , but not on a street car.Just my $.02

I agree, we have looked in to this and after talking to the guys at line-x the bottom of a car would only need a couple of passes where as a truck bed gets 5-6....I plan on doing this to my car

I used some stuff called reflex liner on the underbody of my car and inner wheel houses. Line X tends to be a bit thinner depending on how it is sprayed. You can always have them spray thinner or thicker. I don't know why I didn't do my trunk, but I have plans to send the car back to have the trunk done once the paint work is finished. I think the trunk is a great area to have covered.

Line-X is superior to reflex and you are right about the thickness,the sprayer can make it thick or thin.I will do my floors and truck on my camaro after its painted also.

well thats your opinion. I have had Line-X bed liner. I have had 3 chevy trucks sprayed with reflex, boat trailer, my camaro, and fixing to take my off road golf cart to have the frame and bed sprayed. I have had great luck with reflex, but wouldn't consider Line X to be a better product. Bullhide Liners is the top of the line spray in liner. We used Bullhide on one of our 2500 HD's. It offers a bit more grip than rhino, reflex, or Line X. There aren't too many bullhide dealers out there.
This is just my experience we have had with the various spray in liners, although I believe them all to be satisfactory.

i sprayed rattle guard in my truck recently, i used the gun they sell, had some clogging issues but the garage was cold when i shot it, didnt want to risk running the heater when spraying. came out very nice. had to build 5 coats in the bed and 6 on the flareboard to get the coverage i wanted so it could definately be sprayed thinner if you wanted.

ok..one question......Im planning on having the floor boards sprayed...a couple of you were talking about haveing the actual bottom of the car sprayed. Would that be ok around the exhaust? and can you spray it over rust?

Yes you can spray the bottom of the car. No, I would not recommend spraying the exhaust. The exhaust shouldn't touch anypart of the underbody pieces, so you shouldn't have an issue there.
Surface Rust would be ok to spray over, but I wouldn't recommend spraying it over rust that is thick. I primered and bondo'd all my seams before I took the car to be sprayed to get a good bond and also so the new replacement pans wouldn't show.

Talked to a line-x dealer today. He told me the stuff goes on, pretty much molten @ 175 degrees. He felt that it wouldn't be appropriate directly over the exhaust system.
