hey guys looking to see what everyone recommends, doing a 68 camaro build now with a ls2 adding a lsa supercharger as well. i have a 4le60 that was given to me but not sure if thats gonna be able to handle it. was trying to avoid having to cut the tunnel on the car. has anyone ran the 4le60 with a ls and blower and not had any problems?

I did a "built" 4L60E behind a stroked LS2 to 427 cubes. In a 67 Nova. Stock rear wheel wells so 255/40/18 tires. 490 RWHP on the chassis dyno.
I didn't break it. I couldn't get enough tire under it to break it. But I didn't try to break it with smoking the tires from a start. I used a Yank 3200 billet converter. It drove like a stocker until you floored it.
But it was quite fun while driving about 40 mph and punch it. It would down shift and smoke the tires.
I would talk to folks like Gear Star or Monster and see what they think is best.

4L60E fits much better than 4L80E and can be built to handle quite a bit of power. as noted above, manage your power to tire ratio and you will be fine.

Last, I had Jakes Performance in Texas build a stage 5 4L80e for 1300rwhp drag and drive deal. Super nice setup

Head over to LS1TECH , lots of good information about 4L60E and who can build you a good one.

You might want to start your own thread.

I would ask, what kind of power does your 427 make and what do you want to do with the car, ie cruise it, drag race, road race etc.
Last motor in my 68 was a 427, about 600HP with a 250 shot of go juice. I swapped back and forth between a turbo 350 and a glide, drag race and daily driver. At the time didn't have the $$ for an O/D transmission.
I would choose the 4L60E over a TV cable 700-R4, but would choose a 4L80E over both.
Need more info to give you sound advice.
If you didn't already know, a 427 is a great motor.

I wanted to say this so in the future those who search this can judge for themselves.
Not that there's much to read, but I read all the posts and the one that recommended Monster . . . . Well full stop NO. I've been building transmissions for over 30 years and would never recommend anyone to spend their $$ there. Plenty of other good reputable online shops to recommend.
I've not personally dealt with Gearstar but they seem like a good shop looking at their site.
