all you wheel guru's...would this work?

How's it goin. I've read all the post's on BMW's 120mm bolt pattern compaired to the 4.75 bolt pattern. most people say they will work as long as you have the right hub ring and dimensions figured out. Well ive been looking at many diffrent BMW wheels, such as axis milano's and the M sport 18" wheels. You can get killer deals on them (new 19inch staggered wheels and tires for 1700). we'll i found a set on ebay that look to be a great deal, and i think would look killer on my 1972 chevelle. most posts say that you should look for 5 or 7 series wheels due o the 3 series having too much backspacing. Do you guys think that these wheels would fit? has anyone actauly used BMW wheels on a pro-touring car? thanks again everyone. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...romZR40QQfviZ1

The problem is when using Bmer rims is that the GM hub center sticks out farther than the Bmers so the rims would not work...however since you stated that the Bmers use a deep back space you would then need adapters to fit correctly. Just make sure the out hub ring fits the Bmer rim center perfectly. www.motorsport-tech.com can set you up.

here's what i've seen done. (its not a perfect solution but works) since the dust cap protrudes farther than the bmw wheels allow, just use a sealer on the inside of the cap supplied with the wheel, and a high temp sealer around the center hub ring, and dont run the dust cap. This fixes the problem for some. (i havent seen every wheel combo) but this works and saves as much as 1/4 inch in dust cap clearance.

Okay, i'm still a little confusued. you say the chevy hub will protrude further than the Cap on the wheels will allow, correct? so i should run the wheels without the center caps (paint the cap on the hub black and make it look as nice as possible and seal it up? Does anyone know if the hole in the middle of the wheel is the same diameter as the hub protrusion?

the BMW wheels have a little round snap in plastic or metal cover directly in the center, the distance behind this cap and the dust cap on the axle can sometimes overlap depending on the car you have. Sometimes all you have to do is get a lower profile dustcap or smash it a little with a hammer to get the clearance you need. other times you have to take it off, leaving the spindle's castle nut and grease exposed.

in order to seal this, you have to use the wheel's center as a dust cap. Hence all the "caulking" you'd need to do. I'll try and drum up some photos.
