Anyone retrofit BMW shifter to work with 6L80e or 6l90e trans?

Just picked up a complete interior from a 2007 bmw 328xi that I'm installing in a project and was wanting to see if anyone has mated the stock bmw shifter to work with a 6L90E trans. I haven't pulled the shifter out of the donor car yet just wanted to see if or how it's been done.

I don't know much about BMW's but where is the neutral safety located? In the shifter itself?
