I have a 70 Chevelle project that im working on. I would like some help on the rear end and wheels. I need to know if I can narrow the rear end an inch in order to be able to get a a deeper lip on the front of the wheel. I will be running 20 inch wheels 10-11-12 inch wide. I am ordering a currie 9 inch and need to know if i shold order it stock length or if i should order it an inch narrower on each side in order to get a better lip.

I used a 20x10 with a 5.25 bs . it had over 5" of lip . It looked mini tubbed . I would not cut it at all .

Is that the white chevelle you are talking about? What are teh exact specs of the front and rear wheels and tires? Did you have to modify the floors at all to fit the rears?

depends on how low you want to get it? I think it will fit w/o modification but it won't be able to be very low...with a simple mini tub you can make it look right!
edit*after looking at jasons pic a 70' may have more room than I think??
A mini tub may not be needed it looks as though that car sits pretty good

I was planning on the 294/40/20 tires in the rear or something similar. That will sit around 29-30 inches tall. I want the body to come down over that when i let the air out of the suspension. As long as the frame doesnt need work, i would be willing to make the tubs a little taller to allow the tire to stuff up in there more.
We are only running 18x10's in the rear with a 305/45/18 drag radial. It's about 28.8 over all height. I'm hoping we have enought clearence. With the air out it sits pretty low!

How is the width with that 305? Did it require any modification to the fenders, frame or floor?
I was thinking about running a 22x10 in the rear of a 1970 Chevelle and using a 305/30/22 tire. 20's up front and lowering the car to make it sit level. Will the tire fit in the rear?

that is the same tire I am running on the rear of mine. But 64's have less room than 70's
Kyle-do a search for user name slownova he did a green chevelle with 22's and 19's. It will be hard to get 20's to turn on the front of it.
