That looks pretty cool, Jamie. What size is that sub? I've never been much into stereos myself, but I always find it cool to see what other people are doing. Was this car a T-top car? I'm always curious as to how guys go about storing the t-tops after installing stereos in the hatch. I guess you could always put 'em in the back seat?

that is a XXX15 from Resonant Engineering, i myself think its to much for a daily driver.
but thats what the guy wanted, and yes the car does have t-tops and yes he puts them in the back seat...hehe

Since you're the expert, and we're on the subject. Lets talk Stereos.

What would your ideal setup be, for a car that's concerned with quality sound (over pure volume), and needing small / light weight components. Not looking for a crazy system (maybe 1000 watts total), just something that sounds good. I was figuring 4 speakers, two tweeters, 1 10" quality sub, and 1 amp. What's your opinion on a simple setup like that, as far as components go?

well first off thanks for the kind words...
second the thing you have to think about is how much money i want to spend. most ppl tell me the lease as possible, but that leads to the old saying you get what you pay for. today we have places like ebay and others to help us find products for a cheap price.
now if you want something that sounds good and doesnt cost an arm and a leg try to stay away from big brand names most of the times. (unless you know what your doing) dont buy something because the sells person says it handles x amout of watts or it pushes x amount of watts.when i choose a setup that is the last thing i look at.

now to the question, for a small setup i would get a 5 or 6 ch amp to run the speakers/sub. the jl audio 500/5 is the most used and is a very good choice if you want to spend the money. it is a hybrid class d and class a/b it does 100 W RMS x 2 in the fron channel and 25 W RMS x 2 for the rear also has 250 W RMS for the sub/subs. now there is other amps that will do what you want. i would get 2 sets of components one set in the front and the other in the rear of the car. for the sub id go with 2-8s, 1-102-10 or 1-12......

now if you would like i can build you a set up then pm you if you are looking for a system. but id need to know who much money you want to spend. i would look from $1000.00 to 1500.00 wires and all everything to run it also. i am really good at building a budget systems so if and moneys looking please pm or email me......

Nice to see some other people using RE's stuff. Dave from RE is in our local F-Body club. Got to check out their facility one day when picking up my old roomie's truck after having Dave install his sub setup for him. Super nice guy and DAMN do they make some badass audio gear.

I've got one of their 15" subs (the next model under the XXX series) that i'm going to be using for my home theatre setup. The thing is just absolutely massive. Looks so cool it's almost too bad you have to hide the underside inside the box. :smoke:
