Am I crazy for considering doing manual brakes on my Nova? The car will have a pretty healthy big block so I知 sure having enough vacuum will be an issue. I like the thought of how clean the firewall will be with a manual setup. I知 not a huge fan of the aesthetics of the hydroboost sticking out and extra lines running down to the power steering pump.

The car has 14 inch Baer rotors and 6 piston calipers on the front and 13 inch rotors with 4 piston calipers on the rear. Will there be any issues running this setup in a car that will see way more Street time and car show cruising than it will auto crossing.

There is a thread "MC Recommendations" that would be a good starting point (I cant use Links). Have you had a car before with manual brakes? It can get tiring on the leg some times but overall I personally like them. If you set it up correctly I wouldn't see any problems.

Master cylinder bore, pedal ratio and pad compound selection are key to decent manual brakes imho. Miss any one and they will suck imho….

I have manual brakes on both of my cars and with your big brakes, it should not be a problem. Given a fairly typical 6:1 pedal ratio and a 15/16" bore MC (the Baar Remaster is a nice option) should work very nicely for you.

I have a C5 manual setup with a 7/8" mc and EBC yellow pads. It's perfect.

This is the key to manual brakes. High friction pads. Both of the above are a step below a full on racing pad. But it does make manual brake systems work.

Besides the proper M/C bore, pedal ratio, and caliper bore size, the pads are the left out denominator. Can't go cheap here.
