trouble assembling ridtech coilover shock

I cannot get the black coil holder thing over the shock. I watched the video and took off the black dial knob. No instructions came with the shocks. I'm wondering if it's just the wrong part.200680200681200682

Screw the knob in all the way, then take off the knob.
It will then clear.

Also, be careful not to screw it too far out, otherwise the balls and springs that provide the "clicks" will fall out. It's a bit of a pain to get them back in.
