Doing a 5.3/4l60e swap into a 67 cougar. My question is, does the plug for the gear selector on the trans need to be plugged? My stand alone harness doesn’t have the connector that plugs to the gear selector. Attached is a pic of the connector in question.

Not needed for proper transmission function. It will run and drive without it.
It is needed if you want a neutral switch and reverse lights.
