Which type of brake fluid
Hello!
For my first brake system overhaul I used a "special US" DOT 3 fluid. The warehouse told me that this fluid is necessary, not using european DOT 3. At this time it was no problem, because I ordered a few other things.
No I have some changes at my break system and want to use "normal" fluid=> What is your experience?
Perhaps DOT 5 is possible?Night Rider => My car

12-29-2005 #2if you use the silicone based fluid you need to flash the system and change your seals and boots (any thing rubber) because it will eat through it. and dont mix the two fluids.
12-29-2005 #3If you are willing to flush the system...DOT5 is the way to go. The dot 5 will not eat paint.

01-01-2006 #5I use Valvoline Synpower synthetic in all my brake systems and have never had any problems at all. The wet boiling point is 343 degrees. Unless it's a severe duty track car, I can't see the need for anything with a higher boiling point. If so, try Wilwood brake fluid-I remember reading its boiling point was 500 degrees wet. -Jabin
