Power Window / Door Lock switch ideas

Whatre we doing for switches these days? I kinda like the round billet ones with the illuminated ring but I need 6 of them and theyre like $50 each. Thought I might ask here because there's likely something I havent thought of yet.

Also, has anyone done any real cool fancy stuff with remote control up/down/lock modules at all? What Id really like is a an all in one remote - remote start/locks/windows/trunk/ etc if such a thing exist. That's OT though.

I've seen the $50 billet ones but don't want to spend a ton until I'm sure I'm committed to this console.

Autoloc and DEI have remote systems that could do what you are asking. The key fob gets a little clunky with that many features, like having to hold buttons down or two simultaneously, but it can be done.

I went with Carling switches. A few companies make custom covers for them, and there are a ton of switch options so you can mix and match to get whatever operations you need without a mixture of switches.

I went with some billet switches from Watsons Street Works. Little pricey and they work really well. Even though I also have power locks, I decided not to install an interior switch. Never really use it even on my F150.

Here's what I did for my power windows, 1 ran 8 switches for the 4 windows, 1 for up & 1 for down, they are the momentary switch with harness from ebay, I bought 10 switches with harness for 43.00, the vendor had all different colors 184436184435

Viper 4806V. Plus you'll need a couple of 535T modules to control 4 windows. I just did one on a 68 Camaro and I can remote start it, raise and lower the windows, pop the trunk, lock and unlock the doors, and work it as an alarm. Price range for the alarm is around $175-250 depending on where you find them and the modules are around another $70 each.

I see those switches are only 5amp rated. What did you end up doing for relays?

Another OT question for you, how did you measure where the shifter would end up in that console? Thats my biggest hurdle currently fitting my console in. I dont want to miss.

Also, for us lazy people that have no desire to build our own pretty relay box, is there anything out there that is prebuilt that can power all 4 windows and 2 door locks that I can just buy and run my switch wiring and window wiring to?

The was a place making something called a Black Box (Ron Francis maybe) that had 10 or so programmable relays for doing just that. I had one and some of those Watson Street Works switches shown above a few years ago. Not sure it's still available but it wasn't cheap even when it was. Might pop up on ebay. Or just spend $50 and an hour and make a relay box.

Watsons Streetworks also sells reversing relays. They have polarity reversing relays model number L07W-25. You will need one for each window switch. As for the shifter location, I started with foam core I bought from an art supply store. Made up the general shape and before I test fit I mocked up my shifter on the support as you see in the other photo. Cut a big hole in the console and slid the shifter back and fourth until I found the right position. I had already test fit my custom dash to make sure I had the right clearance from the bottom of the dash to the top of the console where the stereo sits. Never attempted anything like this before. Pretty happy how it turned out. I still have to build a piece to hid the Vintage AC unit.

FYI Ring Brothers will sell you just the billet switch part by itself. I think I paid $25 each. Had to call them direct to order it as it wasn't in their catalog. This way you can use whatever switch body you want. Fair warning though. They are BIG. Bigger than what I thought. Look good though. Just big... :)
