What should be the angle that a BBC sits at in a 66 Chevelle. I am having trouble with pinion angles. Or should I ask the question as : what should my pinion angle be and then adjust motor angle to it? Using Tremec gauge on my phone, I have 01.0/ 00.2/ 00.8 front to back and 90 degrees I have 00.1/ 00.5/ 00.4 all in the green. A 1/8th shim either way makes it outta sync! To make their phone gauge phone gauge work, I cut down a paint stick taped to my phone and made holes for the buttons. Works that way. I have 2 mechanical gauges and they hardly move with lots of adjustments. I have adjustable rear upper control arms and a Centerforce? crossmember.

Is your suspension lowered in the rear?

Lowering A bodies causes all kind of driveline issues. You basically need to raise the back of the trans as high as possible, but that probably won't be enough. I use a CV driveshaft in my 70 GTO to solve this problem. They are made by The Driveshaft Shop.

Normal street car engine with standard oil pan and transmission 3 deg down in the rear. Tha'st the way GM builds the stuff to drain. The pinion angle 1 deg up so on acceleration it will come level. the pinion can be offset left or right 1-3 degs no issue. The only reason to have any angle at all is so the needle bearing will rotate and not wear in one place.

All of that goes out the window when the ride height in the rear is altered from stock.
