      Mock Up 335/30/18

So I am at the point in my car where I had purchased a cheap set of 335/30/18's off ebay for mock up, they are Hoosier DR2 slicks. Off the rim.
The dilemma I am having is the tire seems to be rubbing in my DSE minitubbed 69 camaro. The hoosier website says they measure 13.2 inches wide, but i am getting 14.25 with a tape measure. Is this because they are used or off the rim? In the center of the wheel well i have about 15 inches of space but it seems to be more tight along the front and back of the wheel well. Any advice would be great. Already have a set of 18x12 wheels and really dont want to run a 315 on the car and that size rim. Again any insight would be great, just trying to get this figured out. And the tubs are in welded/finished. No more moving anything around.

You are measuring an unmounted tire. Once it is mounted the cross section will correct itself.
Here are some questions you need to consider to get the tires fitting correctly:
1). What is the "mounted rim width" Hoosier is using for their numbers?
2). Is the rear end installed? What width is it, over the rotors?
3). What is the back spacing/offset of your wheels?
All of this stuff should have been figured out before buying wheels and cutting the car... Back pedaling to get stuff to fit gets spendy... :(

As mentioned, Hoosier website says 13.2 inches mounted on a 12 inch rim.

Rear-end is not ordered yet, most suggestions I had previously received say to buy rims and tires first, then measure WMS to WMS, then cut the rear end to fit.

3). What is the back spacing/offset of your wheels?

Rims i have are the "typical" 18x12 5.5bs

I answered your questions in the quote. I am not back pedaling by any means, the quarters arent on the car, tubs were just finished, my main question was does an unmounted tire measure more than what is described because I have seen tires measuring "wide" like a BFG or "narrow" like a Nitto Drag Radial. I am just trying to make the tire/wheel combo work before progressing with the car so it doesn't get painted and then I have an issue.

Your best course of action is to buy the tires you want and get them mounted. That's the only way you will get the data you need. Once you have the tires and wheels you can set them in the wheel wells and get them centered. Measure between the mounting faces and that is your required rearend width over the rotors. As long as you have a 1/2" or so clearance to the inner and outer wells you will be good. That is the rule of thumb I use and never have a problem with rubbing. Both my '56 wagon and '95 GMC pickup are stuffed like that and I never worry about rubbing.
