      2006 ZO6 Brakes feeler thread

We have a deal to supply us unengraved, in other words, without Corvette on them, 2006 ZO6 Calipers. They will be priced much less then anyones best avaiable GM Corvette calipers. I am curious how many will be interesed in upgrading. It looks like they will be somewhere around $500 per caliper loaded, final pricing will come pretty soon. As you know they will bolt right on C5 brackets, but will require a aftermarket 14"rotor or ZO6 rotor. The aftermarket rotor is sure to be much less expesive, we are working on something also.

I can deliver calipers in late January. So stick your hand in the air if you think you are interested. Look for a Special purchase at GPSuerstore.com soon.

I would be interested, but not sure if I would be ready (financially) by January, so my hand is kinda halfway up.

That price is too expensive. You can get GM calipers(should be out by end of month) for $225, and pads for about $100, so that would be $325 shipped. BTW the stock pads are pieces of crap. Also you can get Z06 rotors for like $100, aftermarkets are about 4-600 dollars(each). Also all of these prices are shipped to door

Plus, these brakes aren't going to clear most wheels, there will probably be a bunch of them up for sale after everyone buys them and realizes they wont' work with their rims

What are the specs on the '06 Z06 calipers & pads? Aren't the rotors 14" & calipers 4 piston?

I'd be hoping for the prices to be backwards to whats being said right now. I can do without the "Corvette" on the calipers.... But seeing how their a little specific I think I'll just run a different more rim friendly caliper.

Edit: So I don't sound like a total ****. Its a pretty pimp lookin set-up. Lots of bling factor.

From what I understand it only takes a .4 inch spacer to run these compared to C5 calipers. So really quite a few rims should still fit even if a small spacer is required I believe the performance and bling of it would be worth it.

I'll be going with C5 front discs just becase I have to budget somewhere, I really wanted to run C6 Z06 Calipers but this car will never get done if I used what I wanted on it, as I said, gotta make sacrifaces somewhere.

Well .4" is about 1/2". That is a signifigant amount of space. Also if you odn't use a quality spacer thats gonna be pretty hard on your studs. 1/2" is enough to make your front wheels look like they are sticking out farther than the rears, and also cause rubbing/clearance issues.

actually you only need a 5/16" spacer which is .03125. not a big deal, I recommend longer studs with all these swaps. Cody quit whining

      Yody-

Why do you continue to dodge the specific questions you get asked regarding these brakes? In the other thread you don't want to share PN with anyone. In this one you don't want to release your cheaper source for the brakes.
What gives? Afraid they will become popular and you'll look trendy by association? Bring the tech for the masses! Show us how/where to get an upgrade like this. Let us decide if we can fit them into our current wheel setup. Show PT a little love.

I might not even get these brakes. On the fence, still have them ordered. The bigger question is why do you care? don't you have some spindles to release? All the info has already been posted, why repeat it? I just see everyone getting all excited about something they might not even be able to use, or don't even need. Also Vince that 5/16" spacer is on what? a corvette wheel on a corvette? Everywheel is going to be different, only way to really know is wait for someone to come up with measurements, from the rotor moutning face to the outside edge of caliper, and then measure your own wheels. However most people with poplur billet wheels aren't going to work. If Frank my buddy wants to know where to get them cheaper thean I'm sure it won't be hard for a guy like him who is "in" with everyone to find out. These brakes are already hard enough to get right now, GM is only going to release so many of them, I just want to make sure I keep my place in line. PBR has stated that they would be releasing them aftermarket some time in spring, however according to frank looks like sooner, too bad the mark up is high

There you go Frank, 190ish for calipers + whatever pads you decide to run + shipping = around 350 or so each with GOOD pads.

Here is a scren shot of the "shopping cart" at GMDirect with OE calipers, pads, and rotors for the front with shipping included...not bad huh. A little cheaper than 700/ea for bare calipers.

No if it had C5's on it and 18' rims then no additional spacer should be needed. Two guys are running them with no spacer. but yes one would have to trial fit them to see. Should be no problem.

Frank, can you measure the width of one of the front calipers?

explain this, everything I have seen shows that people have to run spacers, unless runjning aftermarket wheels, and even then it is a tight squeeze(aftermarket wheel can still be on OEM style) How many Z06 brakes have you installed and mountes wheels up to sensai?

I don't think I have to explain...im not the one running the C6Z06 brakes. From what you have read?? explain that.
The Z06 boys talked to the guys that are running the C6Z06 calipers on their C5's with no spacers and they don't have any problems. Its close but they do not hit. They where are a Vette meet.

I have done plenty of C5 swaps and only a few needed a 5/16" spacer. Would you like a resume...grasshopper?
