Hello!

I currently own a 1970 Buick Skylark, and I’d like to take advantage of the big wheel wells to fit a wide tire and improve the handling. Car is mainly for street/daily use, with super minimal autocross use.

So far im contemplating a 275 squared setup on 18x9.5 wheels, which I know can be attainable in the front with proper backspacing.

BUT, let’s say I want to get 315’s squared for even more handling, what modifications would I have to do in the front to fit the 315’s? And would I have to get a splined style swaybar to avoid rub with the tubular styled swaybars?

All input is appreciated. Thank you!!

As you mentioned, fitting an 18x9.5 wheel & 275 tire on the front is relatively easy. Fitting an 18x10.5 or 18x11 front wheel & 315 tire will be a whole different animal. Since you say the car will only see minimal track use, why would a 315 front tire be necessary? Have you considered an 18x9.5 and 285/30/18, on the front, and an 18x10.5 or 18x11 with 315/30/18, on the rear? That's the plan for my car, in the near future.
I'm assuming your 70 Skylark has as much room, as my 70 El Camino. If not, guess it's back to the ol'drawing board.
