I have a '96 Impala SS rearend laying around and wanted to know if its possible to swap the rear disks onto my '78 Malibu stock rearend. Is there any modifications to make this work or is it just not possible? Joe

I used 93-97 F body calipers that have the E brake built in & 94 Vette rotors with Baer brackets. I have designed the brackets, I just need to get some made. Not sure how hard it will be to use the B body calipers & rotors. Either way a bracket will have to be made, and E brake cables fabricated.

Hmmm. I don't think it would be very difficult to do it. You can very easily use 3rd gen. Camaro rear discs on the G-body axle flanges pretty easily-I wouldn't think you'd need a special bracket for what you want to do-you should be able to use the Impala SS brackets on your housing with only maybe some drilling and/or enlarging of existing holes for mounting the brackets. I make custom E-brake cables so I can help you out if you need a set made. I need to know (a detailed pic with measurements would be nice) style of caliper, types of ends needed and overall length. -Jabin

Jabin,
I may be contacting you as well with help on the E brake cables for my setup. I haven't even looked at it so I don't know if I can use B body cables (that I already have) or if something special needs to be made.

Thanks for the info Scott & Jabin. I'm ways away from having to worry about the rear brakes but since my father had the rear laying around I thought I would look into it. I'll have to remember to search for this thread when the time comes. THANKS.
