Hey guys! It has been awhile since my last post, but my stock oil pan on my Mark VI 502 has punctured a leak! What do you recomend for replacing it with something with better ground clearence? I know this has to have been a problem for some of you. I was looking at the Canton Road Race Pan. From what I can tell it has 1" more clearence but still retains the same amount of capacity. I would like it if I could get another 2" from stock pan depth, but I don't wanna lose any capacity if at all possible. My second question is if I get the Canton Pan, do I have to get a new pickup and oil pump? It says you have to get the required dipstick. But would it be smart to install the other two items while I'm in there? I am not the most knowlegable when it comes to things of this sort. They also have standard and high volume oil pumps. Which is better for an occasional strip and lots of street use car? Here is a link to the page of Canton pans for anyone willing to lend a helping hand! But I am willing to consider different pan options if there are better out there! Thanks guys!

Novaguy,

The Canton pan is going to need a new oil pump pickup to match the pan AND oil pump. If they mention the new dipstick as well, if that concerns you then it's probably a good idea.

Canton pans are a good budget pan that will do what you need, and do a good job at it. I'm a fan of standard volume pumps, so keep the one you have just make sure you get the right pickup for it and TQ the oil pump stud down once it's installed.

As for pan capacity. I always use a 7qt pan with 5-6qts in it depending on drainback and use because there is power there. Especially in a motor with a longer stroke.

FWIW I use a lot of Canton Pans on Pro Touring type motors, they have a lot of applications and do a good job for the money.
