New project. 1994 Astro Van. 42,378 miles. The body and interior are 9.9's out of a 10. This thing is clean! I am the 2nd owner.
It was purchased in late '93 by the PO. it had about 50 miles on it when he had a Callaway LT1 swapped into it. The swap was done well other then a few hacks I am finding. the van runs and drives okay, I just feel it should run BETTER...
Here is the first issue I "think" I found.
The air cleaner is a Banks "Ram Air" unit with a large cone filter.

This is the unit as mounted under the hood.... Not real pretty is it?

Here is the IAC mounted in the air cleaner housing. That other hole was there as well

Looking inside the air cleaner.

I am thinking this is not the best location for the IAC. Shouldn't it be between the air cleaner and the throttle body? In the full air flow stream going into the throttle body? Right now it is just sitting outside the air cleaner trying to read the air flow from random drafts and minor gusts that "just happen" to blow across it... The blow molded housing seals nicely to the top of the cone filter but the bottom has a decent gap that does NOT seal. That will draw air out of the IAC's vision also... I think this is causing a lot of the idle quality problems and I am going to rectify it... Some how.

This is the Intake Air Temp sensor. Probably fine right where it is. :)
