After seeing the success of other members putting the new Camaro console she in their cars, I decided to give it a go. I started with a manual trans console without gauges and the auto meter gauge pod. I cut out the shifter bezel to fit the gauge pod. In the back I left a little plastic to support the pod. I the put epoxy at the front and back to hold everything in place. I used abs plastic sheets to fill in the empty spaces and the used a lot of epoxy. After everything set, I sanded it down and primed and painted. I still have not permently mounted yet, I am waiting to get the rest of dash together.

Looks great Josh!
Glad I could help you out
Now you have to take care of the original E-brake hole! LOL (I may still have some extra metal bezels that we cut out on the plasma table, to make the leather pouch )

That would be awesome. Couldn't have done without you Jeff. Probably never would have even thought about it. I'll post some more pictures when I get it all tied in with the interior.

Looks good, the gauges are a nice touch. I put one in my Chevelle but went ahead and moved my ebrake from the old foot style to the Camaro pull style. It's nice to finally have a cup holder.

Any way I can acquire one of those gauge package bezels that wraps around the shifter ? It's exactly what I'm after.

They were made with stock "non-gauge" bezel and Autometer 4 gauge pod bezel for 68-9 Camaro/ Firebird

Looks great, what did you do for mounting brackets?

It's just bent steel on the floor pan. I am going to add more bracing soon. I just got the rest of the dash together, so now I have a better idea of where I want it. I also have to get a piece made to have my shifter moved up about an inch. I have a plan for it just have to get some 3/8" steel.
I'm not sure I would ever want to make one of those bezels again. It was worth it, but it was a job.

I am also putting one in my 68 Bird which mine was an auto w/ factory console, has any one tried mounting to the factory console braces? I think I can use some angle iron mounted to these factpry mounts but was curious to other installs. My new console is the one w/ change holder which I am repurposing the factory 68 clock with a voltmeter to match the oil and temp for the a pillar gauge pod i altered together and mounting in teh change portion. Trying to modernize new w/ old. Looks great by the way!!!!

My console brace has been sitting on a shelf for years. To be honest it never crossed my mind. The one I have had the change holder. It's not bad to bad to modify, but I hate sanding small pieces. I'm excited about the clock. That's going to look sharp.

I'm putting a fifth gen console in my 67 Bird also and I'm going to use the front factory mount as well. Haven't gotten that far yet as I'm working on enclosing the front of the new console similar to the 67's. I don't like that big open area.

Here is my install from a couple of years ago. It might give you some other ideas. Jeff and I both lived in the same town at the time and he gave me some installation pointers.
