View Full Version : Buick Distributor suggestions for EFI?

Does anyone know if it's possible to convert a '73 Buick distributer to a small cap HEI?
I have a modified stock distributor in the car that will work with the TBI system I'm considering (Holley Terminator), but the ECU wouldn't be able to control spark.

I've done a locked out MSD version and used an MSD box (no module required). I've also converted the magnetic to hall effect for a less noise prone setup which also worked well. I'm sure a factory distributor could be reworked with a little time.

Forget the small cap GM HEI computer controlled ignition module. Run an MSD CD ignition box instead.
You can use a Hall-Effect "geartooth" type sensor (LINK (https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/fuel_injection/fuel_injection_components/sensors/parts/554-124)) without installing any magnets.
The Hall-Effect crank sensor is wired as shown in the Holley EFI Wiring Manual:
