Wasn't quite sure where to put this if not mods please move to correct place if you have any questions please ask I will be happy to share!! Keep in mind these were made with regualr hand tools I have ordered the correct tools to make them with precision cuts and whatnot!
I know this applies to the bullet mirrors some of you guys are using on you 1st gen camaro/firebird or any other thing you want to install these on......Hope it helps some, I am about to start my build on my PT 83 Cutlass cruiser wagon (think Malibu wagon) and I wanted to incorporate some of the ideas that have been swirling around in my head that I wanted to try I scrounged up some pennies and bought the supplies needed to make my turn signal mirrors like on the newer cars..... all in all it took about an hour to put what I had in my head to the mirror!
They are brighter than I expected actually, I still have to mount them permanently but you get the idea. I also only used 3 led's I am going to remake the lens to hold 4.

This is an awesome idea, and great execution! Can you tell me what the LEDs are in and how did you get the shape to match the curve of the mirror? Did you set the LEDs in some sort of clear resin and make a cast? I have a similar idea on putting LEDs somewhere (not a mirror) and am trying to figure out how to get the shape and thickness to fill the gap. I understand if you don't want to give away any secrets, though.

Sure - I will share! It is not like I expect to be the first one to actually implement this as slowly as I am progressing. :-)
I have a 1967 Camaro I don't plan to run the front bumper on. There are four brackets that hold the bumper on the car, and the two outer brackets are sandwiched between the front fender and the lower fender extension. When you don't install the front bumper, you are left with a gap between these panels that needs to be fill. One way of doing that is to add metal to the bottom flange of the front fender, but I have been wondering how hard it would be to install some LEDs in this gap to act as a side marker light/additional turn indicator. What you did with the mirror is dangerously close to what I have in mid, it is just a different profile and probably thickness.
The 68 Camaros have a side marker ight on the side already, but some people fill those in so this could work on those cars as well.
I could not get a good picture of my car because it is in the garage and it surrounded by stuff. So, I cheated and went to the internet to find a pic that I could show the area I am talking about. I apologize if this image is somebody's that they want me to remove. If so, let me know and I will do so. Otherwise I have circled the area on the phot below.

I look forward to your video! It might give me some serious insight if I could do something similar.

I've thought about this sort of project before, just never had time to get around to it. On my 2016 Camaro nose el camino project, I decided to just put side marker / signal lights into my upper fender vents, which I have seen done factory in some vehicles.
For my rear sidemarkers to go along with my swapped 2016 vette rear, I may want to make something superbrite, slim & flush, so it may save me a little trouble to see a reasonably easy way someone else has done such as item in a hopefully reliable enough sort of fashion. By reliable enough, I also mean quality of light supplier, which has been my problem with some led projects in the past.

If you think about it.....this can be applied to any mirror as long as you have access to!!!

Thanks for the video, it gave me a few ideas, such as the tooth design to mount the bulbs in.
I personally may add one more step to the process, using fatter plastic & making a step down to have the part stop itself at correct depth & to be able to make it removable in certain applications, such as in fenders or quarter panels. With a step in the part to hold the depth, mount plates could be adhered to the inside of the body panel with panel adhesive, such as 3m-8115 or a cheaper equivelant.
Being acrylic or lexan, the part could be clearcoated together with paint clearcoat to help it final fit flush & can be a substitute for polishing the part itself to full clarity.
So, what supplier did you use for the bulbs?
Another design variation commonly used is attaching strip leds to the backside of the clear plastic rather than holes & inserted lights.

These were my first attempt I have a few more ideas myself for the next ones I make, I like you want to be able to remove them if need be as well if that is the case these can be mounted flat. I also want to simulte the look like they were "formed to the opening on the side of the housing.
Share your ideas once you start to make them because I will definitely share mine as well!
