That '69 was built by one of our moderators and LS1tech owner, Tony Whatley (nine ball). www.extremeg.net is the website, I believe. I'm pretty sure the car is Viper Red, he actually just sold it.

Tony is in the Bahamas right now, but I'm sure he'll answer any questions when he gets back.

This is for when Tony returns or if anyone else can answer it...when he raced it, what did he do to fit the 15 inch slicks? Just swap out the brakes and then put them back when done?

In those pictures the car looks like its sitting way to high, I could have swore the car sat better that that.

Hey if the new owners don't like it I will gladly take it off of their hands. :3gears:

I'm pretty sure those pictures are pre suspension mods. I think they were taken right after Tony bought the car, and had just put the wheels on.

P.S. The PHR article can be found online at the website I posted above.

Here. Look at it here. I can't find it on the CHP site, so here's the one on the PHR site.

The color is 1995 Viper Red. It was an awesome color, very bright without looking too tomato colored. Nice deep bright red.

Those pics were taken while the car was still stock. Just had wheels bolted onto it. Notice the drum brakes :)

I rolled the rear fender lips with the Eastwood fender-roller tool, and used a hammer to "clearance" the inner wheel tubs a bit. Had to relocate my rear lower shock mounting points (they hit the 15" wheels), and run 5/16" wheel spacers on the fronts. I also carefully sanded/smoothed/painted the very corners of my front SSBC brake calipers to fit the front wheels. The rears fit perfectly without spacers, and are 15x10s with 5.5" backspacing, using a Hoosier 28x10.0 drag slick. They fit nicely. The fronts are a 165r15 radial tire. The car height was not changed, just the wheels/tires. I would preload my Cal-Trac bars by one full turn past contact on the upper side of the leafs, and it would raise the rear about 1/2" higher. My best 60' was a 1.52 since I was under-geared for the combo. That car would have run 10.50s in good weather with a 4.10 gear instead of 3.73s.

LOL wow! That is a LOT more than swapping out the brakes. Sorry to post such a stupid question. It was running 13 inch rotors wasn't it?

correct, I had 13" rotors up front with SSBC Tri-Power calipers (3-piston) and 12" rear rotors with single piston calipers.

I actually bought those wheels before I picked the car up, I knew from the beginning which wheels and engine combo I would go with, regardless of the car :)

For the record, this car is the reason the goat has a magnacharger now. I loved the way this car looked under the hood in pictures so much I had to copy it. Now, if we can just get it tuned right this weekend, I will be all ready for Daytona next week.
The goat will get driven next weekend, just wait and see......
