      Custom door panel backing

Lets just say if I were to build custom door panels? What material do they use as a foundation? Do you just strip the old ones, or is there a specific material used to start from scratch?
      Thanks,
      John

1/8 or1/4" masonite would be an option also. Not as ridgid, will conform to a curved surface a little easier. JMHO

      door panel

I usually use 1/8" ABS plastic. It comes in 4'x8' sheets and is available from almost any plastic company. If you can find it locally you are better off, because shipping is very expensive. If is also available from Miami Corp.. It can be cut by using a utility knife to score it, then bending it to snap it off. Or if you have a jig saw w/ a fairly course blade, you can cut it w/ that. If you move to slow w/ the jig saw it will just melt back together. It can also be heated and molded if needed.

      Good luck
