I would like to know if someone can give me an approximate what torque and horsepower my engine has. It is a 454 Chevrolet motor bored .030 over with a eagle 1/4" stroker crank kit and 10:1 compression. It has a set of old closed chambered passenger car heads that are ported to the max and the largest valves possible. The cam is a Comp Retro roller complete kit with 230/236 and 510/520 lift and steel roller rockers. I run a 2 1/8 Hooker comp headers into a complete Pypes violator exh system. I have a Weiand tunnel ram with 2 4 bbl holly throttle bodies and a holly PH EFI with 8 injectors [1000 hp?] in the tunnel ram. Distributor is a stock efi out of a chev pickup and a MSD coil.

My running gear is a centerforce steel flywheel ram hd clutch with hydraulic clutch. TKO600 trans steel drive shaft with 1350 u joints, Moser 9"" ford with 350 posi and 275/40r17 25.5" tall tires.

My problem is my clutch slips in 5th gear at 15/17oo rpm.

So are you wanting go and torque for bragging right or for selecting a clutch

I been told by guy that built the motor rhat I had 500/525 hp. That was b4 the tunnel ram and EFI. That was 3 years ago. I just wanted an estimate to see if I was under clutched,or if I had a mechanical problem to find. I could have put it on a dyno locally at a car show that has a dyno for $50 bucks.
I cant really afford an other clutch. When I bought the ram it was for big powered street cars. But dummy me, I should have figured that they were talking small block cause when I called ram they hem and hawed before saying it was rated to 550 hp but no torque figures . 500/600 are not big powered street cars.

Just a guess I would suppose you could be in the region of 550hp. If you know the duty cycle, rpm, fuel pressure, and flow of the injectors you may be able to find someone who can calculate it, or if you have trap speed for 1/8 or 1/4 mile.

Does this happen in any other gear? When this happens do you smell clutch material burning? 5th at 1500 rpm is an uncommon place for a clutch to start slipping.

Unless the TOB is pushing on the pressure plate a little.
