GM A Body spare wheel tire alternative to the GTO spare

I installed the Kore 3 Big Brake kit on my '68 Chevelle with the C5 rotors. For a spare, that would fit over the front calipers, I started to go with the GTO spare. However, I did not want a 10+ year old, dried, hard tire. I make long highway trips with the car (just drove from NC to Daytona and back over the weekend) and would have replaced the tire with a new one. So, a used GTO spare plus a new tire would have cost about $250. I ended up buying a spare of a 2014 GMC Terrain for $90 shipped. The newer tire meant I did not have to replace the tire.

The only issue is that the hole in the center of the Terrain wheel that slides over the hub is a bit too small. I took the wheel to a machine shop and they opened it up for $30. I had to dismount the tire first and got that done at a friend's shop for free. So, the total cost for this set up was $120. Just thought I'd pass this along.

Here is a link to an ebay auction for the same wheel (but a much higher price!): http://www.ebay.com/itm/14-2014-GMC-...dVtwwD&vxp=mtr
