I've been researching my options for heating and air conditioning for my latest purchase, a 79 Camaro Berlinetta.


The previous owner decided to remove the outer hvac box, and this car was a factory A/C car. There is no fan, though there appears to be wiring for it, and the fan switch is missing from the climate controls in the car. As I wiggle the other levers back and forth, it appears that they are likely not doing their job either. As I consider my goals for this car, I have a couple things to contend with.

1) I can't seem to find the a/c resistor or relay or the wiring under the hood. Also, the controls themselves are sketchy.
2) It seems that a vintage air system is available for this car and is initially very pricey.



However, once I aqcuire the parts needed just to make a simple heating system work, I'm likely at a place where I might as well just go with the VA system.

I really wish I could just find all the old parts and an a/c delete box and make that work instead...

I have a couple of questions that will help me decide the direction I want to go.
1) where is the heater control valve located or does the core always have coolant running through it?
2) is there a vacuum diagram that can help me reconnect the factory system to at least get air running?
3) is there an a/c harness that is plug and play if yours is missing under the hood?

Another stupid question. I just ordered the a/c delete box for the cleaner look under the hood, but I'm not sure which blower fan to order. I'm assuming, that because my car came with a/c, I should order the fan for the a/c cars, right?
