ive got a customer thats wanting to go kinda old school on a 69 camaro. like a 16 inch wheel with a big sidewall, anybody have a car at home that hasnt had the p-t treatment yet that can give me an idea on size and back spacing to get as big as i can within the stock wheel opening..the car makes more power than a little street tire will handle, but hes going for the look. im thinking something like a 16x8 or so in the back with a 265 or 275 tire, not sure on the front, car has 4whl disc brakes but just little dual piston baer. should have any brake clearance issues...pics would be nice
nothing 16 here at the shop, its 15, 17, 18....

Yeah, I am running 16x8 Vintage Wheel Works V45 rims on my 69 Camaro.
They have a 4.5" backspacing (0 offset). I have Falken Ziex ZE-512 tires;
Front 225/55R-16 95V B
Rear 255/50ZR-16 99W XL B
Stock brakes(front disc & rear drum), Stock leaf springs and Hotchkis 2" drop coils.
Tire selection for that size wheel is quite limited.
Are you sure you can get a 265 or 275 tire??

Mine are 18's. 18 x 8 fronts w/ 4.75" bs (245/40), and 18 x 9.5 rears w/ 5.50" bs (275/40).
Stock wheelwells. Should be able to fit up to 275's no matter the diameter up to 19" as long as the bs is 5.50".

I had my 69 Vert on 16x8" Vintiques Rally's with 245 50 VR 16s, before going from sleeper look to PT look and changing to Budniks. Here's what the car looked like on the 16" Vintique Rallys:

Obviously, way before paint. (No windshield yet, in fact). I still have the rally's if he's interested, PM me. This is the car finished with the Budnik's:
