LizardSkin Heat/Sound Insulation
I've decided to use the Lizard Skin products for my '67 Camaro interior.
www.coollizard.com
I'd like to spray both the Regular (heat control) and SC (sound control) products. I was wondering if anyone in, or close to Austin, TX has done this and whether I could rent or borrow the spray gun instead of buying one.

11-11-2005 #3We used the heat stuff on a car we are building but it wont be on the road till spring so no info yet. I saw it at the SEMA show last year and thought it looked like a good product, time will tell.

as far as the gun goes you can probably shoot it though a gravel guard or rocker shutz gun....most body shops or paint stores have them...a good friendly body shop should let you borrow one...

Lizard Skin
I bought the spray gun and 4 gallons of Lizard Skin. I have a guy that will spray it for me. The stuff is real thick. It will be interesting to see how easy it goes on.
I wish I was doing a frame off restoration so I could spray it underneath the car!
I have talked to the owner and it sounds great, but time will tell!!
Tell me what you find out if you have any experiences before I do!

12-13-2005 #6Lizard Skin a solution to heat?
Hi,
I am considering the Lizard Skin application on the interior to reduce heat. Does anyone out there have experience with it?
How easy is it to apply?
Is the sprayer recommended?
Does it work better or worse than Dynamat for heat?
Hmmm...I have a industrial hotplate, borrow a temperature scanner from work... I guess a good old fashion experiment is in order. Anyone out there have a 1 foot square piece of sheetmetal they can treat with the lizard skin stuff (or a sample of lizard skin?)? How about a spare square foot of Dynamat?
The test: Bake the crap out of it, (at a constant temperature), and measure the change in temperature of an object on the other side over time. Best Temp vs Time curve wins!!!
....or I could just go with what they say on their website.

has a demo where they watch Ice melt...impressive if true.
Any thoughts anyone??????

Heat test
I am just about ready to get mine sprayed on. I did get the spray gun if you decide to get the stuff and want to borrow it.
A painter that I'm working with asked me to spray a section of junk metal. I have part of the the old floor trans tunnel that I'm going to spray, both with the heat and sound products. He has had some inquiries about the stuff and didn't have any information for his clients.
If you have talked to the principal up in Colorado he may relate a story about how he visually shows the effectiveness of the product. He has sprayed half of a griddle with it, puts it on a hot plate and then places ice cubes on each section. He claims that the ice cubes don't melt very fast over the LizardSkin, where the others just evaporate.
I'll let everyone know how it comes out!
