      Mounting bucket seats

      Hey guys,
quick question about installing bucket seats. I bought a 68 nova that the previous owner had installed some really cheap ebay special bucket seats. How they installed and mounted these seats leave me wondering if they even care about a person life! I purchased some corbeau seats with wedge seat frames for a 68 nova. As you can see from the pic below, the mounting holes the ebay specials bolted to won't work with the new frame. Is it ok to line the seat up and drill new holes and buy new hardware? If this is ok, how can i seal the old ebay special holes without having a welder?

ebay special seat with mounting attached. One of them is just dangling there with some cheap bolts used to attach it to the seat frame.

I feel totally safe drilling new holes into the seat brackets or tracks, I've done it a few times. I'm 6'5" which usually requires me to modify seat brackets often, on my toys and daily drivers.

Use grade 8 hardware, washers to spread out the load where possible, and lock washers.

To cover the holes in the floor, I've used 4x4" sections of sound deadener on both sides with great success.

what nick said , as long as the new holes have a spreader plate under/around the bolt location you should be fine . the spreader plates should be at least 1/8" thick plus the thickness of the floor pan. if possible have it approved by a licensed mechanic or at least get there opinion . if they feel its safe and you feel safe you should be good to go and most certainly use top quality bolts ...grade 8

Thank you guys. You know of any places that sell the spreader plates? Google search only returns plates for roll cages.
