4L60E or not? I.D. help

Im finally getting back to mocking up the entire car before tearing it all down again and finish the bodywork. So I have this transmission and engine pull out from a 2007 Trailblazer SS, but im not sure which transmission model I have. I want to make sure im not missing something and have to change transmissions and cut/re-do my trans tunnel after the car has been painted. I've seen 4L60, 4L60E or 4L80 for this model year but I don't know how to tell the difference. I have done the research on the web but there are so many contradictions as to which one I actually have. Some transmissions show a casting on the side of the transmission "4L60E" but this one does not?? Just curious as to what guys here in the Pro-touring world use to find out which transmission they have??? Or if someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. :help!:

E stands for electronic. That stands true for all the late model 4L series transmissions.

That one looks like a 4L60e. The 80 is considerably larger and also has a different pan and bolt count on the pan compared to the 60. Google is your friend by the way! :)

You have an LS based 4l60e or newer derivative of. Not a 4l80.

If you're 100% positive it came out of a trailblazer SS of that year then you have a 4L70E. You have the 5 pinion carriers for input and output. Also has hardened input and output shafts. And thirdly it should have more clutches in the 3-4 clutch stack then a typical 4L60 due to the extra holding power required for the extra torque the ls2 powered blazer had. And I believe they also came with the better servo for the 2-4 band. Like corvettes but not 100% if it is the corvettes. All in all a tear down with pics would let me tell you exactly what you have. Like I said, if you're certain its out of a SS trailblazer, then you have one of the best 4 speed autos out there from the factory.

Yes, I saw the donor Trailblazer with SS badges. Unfortunately I did not protect the ID tag on the transmission, it got rained on and sun beat. The cylinder heads have the 243 casting numbers with the yellow valve springs which I understand are on the SS Trailblazer.

I hope it is what you say Revmax, that would be awesome. I would like to start breaking down the transmission but right now I'm in mockup stages, once mock up is complete I'll start on tearing down the trans. Now that there is a chance this is a 4L70E I will start looking into more backup info on it. Thanks Revmax.
