      Painting aluminum wheels

I recently picked up a set of C6 Corvette wheels for my Chevelle. They have a little curb rash on them. I got it pretty well sanded down. I plan to bead blast the wheels and repaint them. i have done steel rallies before, but never anything aluminum. Is there any certain primer I would need to use for aluminum? Any other special prep work that needs to be done?

Just a good self etching primer has worked well for me in the past. Or, if you are going to rattle can them, Duplicolor makes a system...

I am not opposed to a rattle can if it works. I will check out the Duplicolor system. Thanks.

i rattle can painted my rally wheels after sandblasting them. i used a good self etching primer then a primer/sealer. and yes, Dupli-color does have a system. Dupli-color also has a decent product. On the aluminum, i'd use something like Dupont's vari-prime primer. Its self etching and it's a zinc chromate based primer. Very good for aluminum.
