Picked up a 66 skylark a couple months ago from Vegas. ive had cars that needed some love, but im proud i got something that i can already start driving and all it needs is simple bolt ons.

The thing that sucks is that theres no A/C and its a slow 225 engine w/ a ST300 2 speed. that can be replaced.

picked up 2 buick 455 motors really cheap, 1 needs to be assembled and the other needs to be machined. along with the motors came w/ a TH400 and TH350. just for simplicity ill be going with the TH350. i dont have the budget to mod the driveshaft, find a new yoke, relocate the crossmember. I wont be beating this car like crazy anyway. the only thing i will be adding to the motor is a TA_212 cam

i had the hardest time finding 18's that would fit. at first i slapped on 18x9.5 in the rear and it cut up the tires like butter. lol. then, the company wanted to sell me 17's and told me that this is all that would fit. i was not happy with the 17in. REV WHEELS at all.

then did business with another wheel company within walking distance from my house and they knew their ****.

Ended up w/ some Ridler 18x8s at the rear and 17x7s up front. the rear barely clears but i think its safe.
Now im ready to drop the rear 2" and the front maybe 3". scored a new set of Tubular control arms, Shocks and 2" lowering springs. i may cut .5" just to bring it down more cause it seems like a big gap up front.

Looks good. I like the wheels, it really spruces the car up. I have a 65 Skylark that also came with the V6. It now has a ls3 based 427 with air, pb(disc front and rear) ps and suspension upgrades.

nice. i was actually going back and forth between LSX and the 455. i had a holley 302-1 oil pan from a previous build and some ls swap headers. but i wanted a simpler swap. but i think ill be happier w/ a LS based car. i put my 455 up on craigslist and if it sells, then i will fund my LS project. your local to me if your still in Cypress.

just got done installing Tubular Control arms and 2" dropsprings. the driver side sits 1" higher than the right side.

The car is looking real, real good. As to the car sitting higher on one side I would say drive it for awhile and let things settle in. Mine did that for awhile and it now sits even.

im getting my buick 455 BBB built at the moment. im going a different direction and will be selling it to go towards an LSX swap. if anything, im very happy that this car is a driver and not a project car that will take years before i actually start to enjoy it. Your car changed my mind and was very happy how your car performed.

I love the build , I am doing a 1967. What is the size of your wheels and tires. Was your back spacing 4.5 inches on your wheels.
