I am considering mini tubbing my 69 Camaro coupe, before making my decision I would really like to try and find a reasonably priced wheel that doesn't cost $600 to $800 each. Maybe all 12" wide wheels costs that much, I am not sure. I would really like to spend about $300 each for the rears. What is the widest wheel width you can run on a 69 Camaro with the standard wheelhouse without mini tubbing? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

12" wide wheels are expensive since they're not produced in high quantities- compared to say 8", 9", 9.5", etc.

The cheapest way out is going to be buying a 9.5" or so rear wheel, and having it widened by Weldcraft Wheels up in Michigan. We've done that many times with good results.

Some others to try: Foose, Niche, American Racing, US Mags.

If you run offset leafs or a different rear suspension, the stock wheel wells fit about a 9" wheel. This will also depend on your ride height and tire size. Might be able to squeeze a 10" if the car isn't too low.

There's a lot of similar information already on here, so make use of the search function - it's a big help.

Mrt-wheels.com has steel hoops in17 and 18 in and 20in and can build wheels that are not dot rated, but if they are solid enough for racing,,,,.
I am looking at these to build some wheels for my projects. Yeah steel wheels are heavy but hey if the price comes in right, then its gets my cars rolling and let's me tweak on my cars and not have them sit from not being finished or useable.

Centerline makes some nice wheels for $400 a piece, for custom widths its about $50 extra per wheel, but don't quote me on that.

American muscle has tons of mustang parts, bunch of wheels for around $160 a piece shipped. They don't have 12 inch wide wheels but plenty of one's 10 wide. TSW has a few that are 10.5. Hope that helps some
